Mediation is a process that enables people to make fair decisions and agree practical solutions in the event of a dispute. It is a series of discussions facilitated by a mediator, in a safe, neutral environment, to help both parties reach an outcome that is acceptable to everyone involved.
Our mediation services encourage clear, calm, reasonable communication to ensure both parties discuss their needs, reach practical, workable solutions and agree how to put them into place, so that everyone can move forwards.
Mediation enables disputes to be resolved without the hostility, stress and significant cost that can be associated with legal proceedings.
It can be used alone or in parallel with legal proceedings, (clients are advised to consult solicitors if needed for legal advice) and can greatly reduce clients’ legal costs.
The fees for our mediation services are transparent- there is a fee for each meeting and a fee for the drafting of the documents when proposals are reached. No other fees are applied.
Mediation begins with a Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting (MIAM) after which clients and the mediator decide if mediation is the right approach to help resolve matters.
Following the Information Meeting, a mediation session, or series of mediations will take place with a mediator present.
We help our clients reach agreement, tie up loose ends and move forwards. Agreements are written down and can be turned into legally binding documents by your solicitors if you wish.
